Panormitis Monastery ( Symi ) can be reached by sea, or by car. The monastery of Archangel Michael Panormitis located on the southwestern side of the island, surrounded by cypress and pine trees.
Written documentation exists about the existence of a monastery from the 15th century, which, along with Patmos are the two largest points of pilgrimage of the Dodecanese. In the monastery there are two museums: the Ecclesiastic and Folklore Museums. Within the Monastery, there is a nursing home for the needy elderly, which also accommodates many believers in its guesthouses during the summer.
