Karystos ( Evia ) is a small coastal town on the south part of the island, built on a bay. From Athens it is accessible by ferry within an hour via Marmari from the Rafina Port. Karystos combines mountain and sea, as the slopes of the Mount Ohi are very close. The town has a very good street layout, neoclassic mansions, many great local products and taverns with fresh fish, as Karystos is a famous fishing place. Nearby and worth seeing is the Venetian Castle, Castello Rosso.
