Each dusk a crowd gathers around the caldera to see the magical moment when the sun disappears into the vastness of the Aegean Sea and the predominant fiery red colors signal the end of yet another day. The village is built at an altitude of 350 meters and is located on the north side of the island, 11 km from Fira. It stands out for its authentic beauty and its main characteristic is that the houses are carved into the rocks. The houses - caves that are carved into rock, are unique due to its particular soil.
