One arrives in Filerimos Hill in Rhodes through Trianta village after traveling through a lush green pine forest. The area got its name in the 13th century from a monk, who came from Jerusalem and brought with him a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary.
On top of the green hill he built a chapel dedicated to her. Later, the Knights built a large monastery on the same site. The Hill was the acropolis of ancient Ialyssos.
