Poros Town, located on a small peninsula on the south coast, is the capital and harbor of the island. It is a charming town, built up a hillside with bright Neoclassical buildings with and narrow alleys that wind through the town. From all places in the city, you can see the clock tower, built in 1927. The views from the clock tower are breathtaking – you can see the whole town, the coast of the Peloponnese and beautiful sunsets. The waterfront and the alleyways behind it are filled with restaurants, cafes and shops. Hotels and rooms for rent are scattered throughout the city. Other sights worth seeing are: the Archaeological Museum, the Library, Agios Georgios which is painted with frescoes by Constantinos Parthenis and Villa Galini, one of the most spectacular houses on Poros.
