    The Pinios Dam ( Greece ) in the North Peloponnese is one of the largest dams in Europe at 50 m tall and 2,175 m long. The dam and reservoir are around 20 km inland, close of the village of Kentro. Construction on the dam began in 1961 and was completed in 1968. The reservoir is the largest body of water in the Peloponnese, and the water is used to irrigate the plains.
