Portaria ( Pelion ) is a traditional village in the Magnisia Prefecture, located 13 km north of Volos and its suburbs, facing the Pagasetic Gulf. Most of the houses and mansions are typical example of local architecture with their windows and doors with a variety of colors and roofs of stone tiles. It is located in a lush green landscape with springs, ornate stone fountains. The settlement has year-round tourism with a ski resort 12 km away and the closest beach 17 km from the town. It has a great tourist infrastructure for all tastes, many taverns and cafes on the picturesque squares with the famous plane trees.
