    Paou Monastery Pelion Argalasti

    The Paou Monastery ( Pelion ) or Agios Nikolaos is located in Magnesia, 2 km north of Argalasti, 45 km from Volos, in an area of 600 acres among olive groves, with a great view of the Pagasitikos Bay. It was built in 1732 and destroyed by Ottomans in 1831. The two-story building with stone arches is fenced, with a large courtyard and the church which is decorated with stunning Byzantine frescoes from 18th century, vaulted ceilings and marble floor. It is renovated and operates as a convention center by the University of Volos.
