Milies ( Pelion ) is a picturesque village of Mount Pilion, at an altitude of 400 meters, 28 km from Volos in Thessaly. It is famous from the railway which starts from the capital of Magnesia and ends in our destination. It is named “Moutzouris”, it is constructed in the end of 19th century and it is characterized as a preservable monument. In 1996, the railway started operation again after repairs and runs 16 km from Ano Lehonia to Miles every weekend, from April to October. The route is one of the most beautiful in Europe, through the lush greenery, the arched bridges, the small tunels, the iron bridge and the great sea view. Another feature of the village is the authentic traditional architecture of the mansions, many of which converted into guesthouses. It is worth visiting the beautiful central square, the old church of Taxiarches with the Byzantine Hagiography and the Public Library with rare books and historical heirlooms.
