Parikia ( Paros ) , or Chora, as it is called by locals, is the capital of the island. It is built in the center of the west coast. The town stretches from the sea to the foot of the hill on top of where the monastery of Agion Anargyron sits. The present city is built in the same location as the ancient one. The town retains its traditional identity, while providing guests with all the comforts of a modern city. White-washed houses, blue windows and potted flowers make the perfect backdrop. Particularly impressive is the 13th Century Venetian castle located in the center of this traditional village. There are hotels of all categories and apartments, while countless tavernas and restaurants guarantee delicious meals.
