Mykonos town lies on the west coast of the island, in the middle of a large bay formed by the bays of Tourlou and St. Stephen in the north and the Bay of Korfos and the Diakoftis peninsula to the south. It boasts cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, quaint churches, bougainvillea adorned houses and a unique cleanliness. Since the early 1960s masses of tourists have flocked to the island. Today the nightlife of the city is one of the most vibrant and active in Europe. There are plenty of hotels and lodgings in the area.
