Sand Dunes (Ammothines) on Lemnos is near the village Katalakkos in the northwest of the island . They cover about 70,000 m², and are like standing in a desert – a rare phenomenon in Greece, or Europe for that matter. Rolling hills of untouched sand surround you, some areas with low vegetation and some free of everything apart from sand. The sand dunes sweep toward the sea – Gomati beach is about 2 km away from the middle of the sand dunes.
