Lamia ( Greece ) is in Sterea, 214 km from Athens. The monuments, churches and the Historic Sites recount the history of this city. The most important attraction is the castle from the Middle Ages, built in the 5th century BC on a rocky hill. Inside there is the seat of the Archaeological Museum, the Tax Office of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities and a Conference Center. It is worth visiting the Folklife and the Byzantine Museums of Phthiotida which was honored in 2010 by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) of Unesco as one of the five most representative Greek Museums of multicultural activity.
