Folegandros Town or Chora stands out for its authentic island physiognomy. The wild beauty of the landscape merges with the Cycladic architecture and creates a harmonious, beautiful and charming village. This capital city is built almost on the edge of a huge cliff at a height of 200 meters above sea level and is located 4 km from the port, Karavostasi. It is one of the most picturesque villages in the Cyclades. It consists of two settlements, a medieval village that is built within the walls of the castle and the newer area that stretches outside of the walls. The Castle and the village were built by the Venetians in the early 13th century. Notably, one side of the castle is literally hanging over the cliff. The exteriors of the houses were the walls of the castle.
