Ano Meria ( Folegandros ) is in the northwestern part of the island and is 5 km from the capital. Here one experiences a different landscape: lush farmland and small sparsely populated villages. The Folklore Museum is housed in an Anomeritiki farmhouse and was one of the first ‘open museums’ in the country. In it there are no museum pieces, just a demonstration of a typical rural household on the island, consisting of the main house, bakery, wine cellar, outdoor wine press and a small vineyard. In the tavernas you can taste the local dish "matsata". It is hand-made pasta accompanied by braised rabbit or chicken. The beaches in the area are Agios Georgios which is located at the northern end of the island and Livadi beach with its grayish sand and clear water.
