Kirinthos ( Evia Greece ) is an area and beach about 55 km north of Chalkida. In ancient times, the hill above the sea was lined in walled terraces to protect inhabitants from the sea. There have been many tools excavated from the hill dating to the prehistoric Neolithic times as well as the early Bronze age. It is believed that this area of Evia was involved in metalwork from ancient through Roman times. The beach below the hill is equally enticing. The river Voudoros meets the sea behind the beach and is surrounded by lush vegetation, almost resembling wetlands. The beach can be quite busy in the summer and is organized with umbrellas and chairs.
