The Monastery of Agia Triada Aretiou ( Crete ) is located near the village of Karidi (Neapoli), in a dry and remote area of the province of Mirabello. The construction of the monastery began in 1580. From a distance, the monastery resembles a small town with a fortress. The entrance to it is through the portico, which leads to large vaulted warehouses, stables and the gate of the inner courtyard. In the main courtyard there are water tanks and more habitats. On the two storey wings are the cellars, the kitchen, bakery, bank, storage, the forge, and other facilities. Besides the enclosure are two large open reservoirs, the olive mill and creamery.
