Astakos ( Greece ) is a seaside town on the west coast of the country, located 56 km from Messolonghi, in Sterea. The village was founded in ancient times. Among sights worth seeing are monasteries, the Byzantine castle and the archaeological site of the ancient town. There are beaches with crystal blue waters, secluded bays, hotels, rooms and apartments for rent, taverns with fresh fish and local products. From the harbor there are daily ferries to Ithaca and Kefalonia.
